Here is a digest of writerly pursuits that have transpired over the course of the last 120 hours.
• Most notably, I guest-starred on Idolator on Friday. I mulled about girl groups becoming increasingly obsolete business models and like all good arguments, gave way too many reasons, examples, and links to pop songs which may be better left forgotten.
• Err, Rihanna’s “comeback single” is totally shitty, but it totally makes sense as her “comeback single.”
• An in-depth look at Malaysia’s Beyoncé alternatives as the country is making it impossible for The Best Vocalist Of Our Time Ever In the History of Music to stage a single show in Kuala Lumpur. (The replacements are not terribly inspiring!)
• Mo’Nique, who I kind of appreciated and assumed was beyond the definitive megalomania of anyone in Hollywood, kind of out-diva’ed Mariah Carey. Well, then! And then someone disagreed with me over that conclusion.
• Shakira did some things. (Quite brilliant memoirist/funny individual Julie Klausner has a reaction that I totally sympathize with.)
• Adam Lambert kind of showed that when it comes to The Cause, he’s a ten steps forward-fifty steps back kinda guy.
• Nicole Kidman thinks Hollywood is killing women.
• That is, the same Hollywood which is inadvertently killing animé by engaging in a violently torrid affair with Japanophilia.
• Also, a music thing happened.
Clearly the copyrights of all this junk belong to its respective creators. That also applies if I'm the one who's creating the junk. Thanks to Tumblr for the space.
