When I was told that two days after returning from India we would be taking a family road trip to Wisconsin,

I nearly had a meltdown. It’s an eight hour drive from MI to WI. To make matters worse, we were going to do a stop-over in Fort Wayne. No one, not even the Pistons after the late 1980s, can stand to be in Fort Wayne. Also, there’s only so much sitting one man can do before he starts losing his mind. I reached that quota after being stuck on three different aircrafts that were conspiring to create bloodclots in my legs from India to the United States,

But then: A game-changer. I was told that there would be wireless on the drive up. Which means that this is basically no different than working from home.

Last Christmas, I drove up to Madison as well, but with a friend. (She drove. I provded comic relief.) We listened to Heidi Klum’s “Wonderland” on repeat. Her dog kept drinking my coffee. Then there was a blinding snowstorm that made the second half of our NY to WI trip much like a slow crawl through Siberia.
