Samsaya, “Video Games”

This Lana Del Rey cover is exceptional because you could imagine swirling a glass of champagne violently as this played in the background and you left what’s-his-face a strident voicemail about ____ or ____.

This is also the same response I think Lana Del Rey would have if she were reading all this fanmail.

Still reeling from the flop of their last single, “Freedom”—which they had to give away for free due to lack of general interest—the Sugababes have undergone yet another line-up switch. Former band member Heidi Range is quoted as saying she and the band have split on “amicable terms” while the band’s management have recruited controversial alt-pop starlet Lana Del Rey to fill in for Range. They are hoping Del Rey’s provocative and edgy image will help renew public interest in the band again.

Lana Del Rey vs. Calvin Harris vs. Steve Aoki vs. Afrojack, “Born To Feel Beef”

This is lush. This is epic.

"Listening to Born to Die, it turns out, is a lot like watching the movie Showgirls — right down to the cigar-chomping bad men and swimming pools that populate both — only as told from the point of view of some moonier, more passive woman in the corps behind Elizabeth Berkeley. The album should come with a drinking game, like one DVD edition of Showgirls did. It already shares a number of qualities with a drunk person. It repeats itself often, the same stock phrases popping up in song after song. It swings from lively, upbeat teasing to sad, torpid moans, and it’s usually the latter that’s tedious."

Nitsuh! (via tylercoates)

A desperate plea to music critics: Shut up and listen to the record! Or don’t! But please, shut. up.
